However, by 2018, the Wilson House Restaurant & Inn had been sold, and then renovated and reopened under new management and owners.

An observation:
I visited the Wilson House Restaurant & Inn in mid May of 2018 now that friends in Wilson reported it had reopened. Everything was redone. The original hardwood floors were kept and are visible in the bar. The space is a lot more modern and contemporary yet still retains its rustic ambiance. Returned again in 2021 to visit our Wilson friends now that we were all vaccinated and boosted. We went for an early Friday dinner and were seated in the bar area (per our request). The food was excellent, and offers a little more than just the standard bar food. All of the staff was very friendly and efficient. It was great to get together with friends for a social evening after spending the day at an annual spring fair.
Our plan is to return to Wilson in the fall to view the colorful foliage and have lunch or dinner at the Wilson House Restaurant & Inn with our friends again.

In 2005, Caren Ashkar and John Cracchiola, became the new innkeepers. They are the former operators of Dacc's Restaurant, a well respected eatery located in Amherst, NY. The Wilson House Restaurant & Inn includes a bar, dining room, banquet room and seven guest rooms. During the summer season meals and drinks are served on the spacious screened-in front porch.
The banquet room accommodates parties from 20 to 120 people. The seven guest rooms have recently been remodeled and include private bathrooms, air conditioning and cable TV.

History of the Wilson House Restaurant & Inn, near Lake Ontario
Luther Wilson's first claim to ingenuity may have occurred during the War of 1812 when he was only 14 years of age. According to early accounts, George Ash, who lived west of the Wilson settlement, warned the settlers that the British were coming, thus giving them time to gather their things and flee.
About 25 head of cattle were rounded up, and Luther Wilson was given the responsibility of driving them eastward along the lake, some had cow bells around their necks, so in order to keep invaders from hearing them, he stuffed dry leaves in the bells. He was then able to drive the cattle five miles beyond Van Horne's Mill where they remained undetected. After the British burned down the mill and retreated, Luther drove the cattle back to Wilson. When Luther reached maturity, he became the business genius of the family, with an untiring energy and spirit, he started most of the public improvements in town. In 1827, he started the hamlet of Wilson, NY by laying out a single tier of lots along the north side of Young Street from Lake Street to the Creek.

The Wilson House Restaurant & Inn, a popular destination at 300 Lake St., will close its doors Dec. 20, 2015.
Owners Caren Ashkar and John Cracchiola have run the restaurant since 2005, leasing the more than 170-year-old building.
Ashkar said the decision to close the business was prompted by the building being put on the market by owner Norbert O'Brien of Williamsville-based NP Properties Western NY for sale or lease.
Ashkar said that without knowing what any future landlord's plans for the building would include, the pair decided it was time to move on.
They were notified about the sale in January.
“We decided to stay open until the end of the year,” Ashkar said Friday.
Ashkar and Cracchiola have been in the restaurant business for 23 years. Prior to running the Wilson House, the couple operated Dacc's on Millersport Highway in Getzville. Previously they had been involved in paper distributing.
“I'd like my next job to be only forty hours a week, with nights and weekends off,” Ashkar laughed.
Ashkar said that there have been some people looking at the building since it went on the market. According to the 2015 Niagara County tax roll, the building's full market value is $291,000.
The historic cobblestone building was built in 1844, the home of Wilson founder Reuben Wilson's eldest son Luther. In the 1920s, it was home to a men's club and became a restaurant in the 1940s.
The Wilson House is a big part of Wilson's culture, village Mayor Bernie Leiker said.
“I know everyone is hoping that someone will step up and buy it soon,” he said. “We don't want to see it close.”
“We hate to lose Caren and John as restaurant owners because they not only do a great job, they're great people and great friends,” Leiker added, “although I'm sure we'll be seeing them on the other side of the restaurant once someone else re-opens it.”
